Today I’ll be revieweing the brand new Tom Ford Cream Color for Eyes in 2 of the 4 available colours, Guilt, a sheer gold, and Spice, a semi-sheer chocolate.
These cream shadows are not what I would describe as being densely pigmented, however I don’t believe they were intended to be. Rather, they stand alone providing a soft wash of colour, with a surprising depth and complexity, for a very sophisticated and understated makeup look.
Alternatively they can be layered underneath a powder eyeshadow for a deeper, more vibrant look.
Ease of application:
Like most cream shadows, these are incredibly easy to apply – stick your finger in the pot (or scoop a tiny amount out with a spatula) and blend it over your eyelid.
Unlike many cream shadows, these have an incredibly creamy, smooth texture that makes them a pleasure to apply.
When applied in a very thin layer across my bare eyelids I can get a decent 6-8 hours of wear from these shadows with absolutely no creasing.
When applied over an eye primer (Urban Decay Primer Potion) they did not crease at all, even after about 16 hours.
When layered under a powder eyeshadow they did not crease at all, even after around 16 hours.
The packaging for these cream shadows is very true to the aesthetic of the whole Tom Ford line. Solid, weighty glass jars are capped with a plastic lid in the typical mahogany shade, and monogrammed with a golden TF.
Although the packaging makes these a very elegant addition to my makeup collection, the makeup artist in me wishes these came in a more hygienic and kit-friendly tube.
