M|U loves: Makeup & Macaroons

Todays edition of M|U Loves is an interview with one of the first bloggers I ever met face to face. In fact we sat next to each other at the first blogger meetup I ever attended (many years ago). She is the most glamorous mama I know, and she rocks a bright lip like nobody’s business.

Introducing the star of Makeup and Macaroons; welcome Lilit!

Tell me a bit about your blog?

Makeup and Macaroons is a blog for lovers of makeup and all things beauty. Do you want to know how to do an easy smokey eye? Or how to wear a red lip? Maybe how to revamp an old necklace using nailpolish? Then Makeup and Macaroons is for you!

Established in December 2010, it is aimed at 18-45 year old women who love to look good but are not a slave to fashion, who are just as comfortable wearing a $5 lipstick as they are a $90 foundation, who like to spend on quality products but want to know how they would would look on real women.

What is your favourite budget makeup brand? What is your favourite product from that brand?

I’m a huge fan of Australis cosmetics. In the last few years they have really improved their products, which are always on trend and oh so affordable. Their long lasting matte lipsticks are my favourite, and they only cost around $10AUD each.

What is your favourite luxe makeup brand? What is your favourite product from that brand?

I absolutely adore all things Illamasqua. I guess it’s not really luxe in the category of Chanel and Dior, but their prices are a bit higher than average. And in case readers aren’t aware of it, when they first launched the range in Australia their prices were quite high, much higher than in the UK and anywhere else, however they have since reduced their prices to make it comparable to their overseas rates… and no, I don’t work or nor am I affiliated with Illamasqua!
My favourite products from them would have to be their blushes – finely milled, beautiful colours, soft and pigmented and they smell of vanilla!

What is your favourite indie makeup brand? What is your favourite product from that brand?

Hmmm… I don’t think I actually have one so I’m open to suggestions!

What’s your makeup crack? Are you a lipstick lover, a blush junkie, a mascara maven, or is it another product that floats your boat?

Definitely a lipstick lover!

So, be honest, how many lipsticks do you own?

Before I did a huge cull and got rid of all my old lippies (you know the ones, that smell a bit off) and gave away double ups to friends and family I probably had close to a 100. But now I have a manageable amount of 30… and yes I still want more!

Tell me your best makeup secret, tip or trick.

My favourite tip is to use a nude eyeliner on inner rims of my OUTER corners of the eye to open up my eyes and make them look bigger and more awake.

Everyone has a dirty beauty confession – what’s yours?

Oh geez, I have so many and they’re no longer a secret since recently I did a beauty sins confession post… to give you an idea, I don’t remove makeup every night, I don’t wash my brushes often enough, I twist and tangle my hair, I bite my cuticles…. and so much more! But nobody’s perfect, right?

Visit her website, or pick your favourite social media network and follow her there – be sure to tell her I say hi!
