This week for M|U Loves, I’ll be introducing you to a Beauty Blogger who really probably needs no introduction. She is one of the most experienced Beauty Bloggers in Australia, and her knowledge base blows my mind. I’m so thankful to be able to call her a friend, and she is such a personal inspiration to me. Please welcome Tine from Beautyholics Anonymous!
Tell me a bit about your blog?
Beautyholics Anonymous is all about beauty: a bit of skincare, a bit of makeup, a bit of haircare and a whole lot of blush. I’ve been blogging for over 6 years now; I started in Malaysia and ended up in sunny Australia. On top of beauty, I write a weekly series called Bloggie Wednesdays where I talk only about blogging. It’s crazy how popular it’s become! Do come back when I talk about blushes, okay? 😛
What is your favourite budget makeup brand? What is your favourite product from that brand?
Oh dear, I’ve got so many! I’m going to have to say Maybelline because their Colour Tattoos are simply magnificent. I’ve tried so many cream eyeshadows but the Colour Tattoos are the best for me. I have terribly oily lids and this doesn’t even budge or crease!
What is your favourite luxe makeup brand? What is your favourite product from that brand?
Oh you’re killing me here! I don’t think I have just one particular favourite luxe brand; I love too many! Let’s see, I like Chanel and Tom Ford for their lipsticks, Guerlain for their eye makeup, Hourglass for their base makeup, Dior and Burberry for their blushes and so on. Too hard to pledge allegiance to just one brand.
What’s your makeup crack? Are you a lipstick lover, a blush junkie, a mascara maven, or is it another product that floats your boat?
Blush junkie all the way. I may sometimes forget to put lipstick on before I leave or even mascara but heaven forbid if I ever leave the house without blush on.
So, be honest, how many blushes do you own?
Oh boy. Last proper count (and by proper count, I meant doing a blog post on all of the blushes I own. That was a few months ago) was about 37. I’ve since added more. What’s that about too many blushes but only two cheeks? Right. 😛
Tell me your best makeup secret, tip or trick.
This isn’t a secret, of course, but I always do my brows first before putting on any other makeup. By filling in the brows first, I know if I want to be heavy-handed with my eye makeup. If I’ve made my brows very thick and defined, I tone my eye makeup down. If I leave my brows as is (maybe just fill in the ends a bit), then I amp up the eye makeup.
Everyone has a dirty beauty confession – what’s yours?
Oh dear … I guess when a secret’s gotta come out, it’s gotta come out. I have a particular callous on my hand. It’s a stress callous where I unknowingly pick on when I’m anxious and stressed out. It’s been there for years and no amount of hand cream would get rid of it. Sometimes it gets really thick and hard. I can’t permanently get rid of it but to at least tone it down so that it’s somewhat smooth again (at least, with the help of hand cream), I use a fine emery board to file it down. Just like how you use a foot file to file your cracked heels down. Sounds disgusting but it really works. Pop on some hand cream and it almost looks as good as new again.
Whether you have an interest in beauty products (especially makeup) or you are a blogger looking for advice (Tine’s “Bloggie Wednesdays” are a wealth of information), you will absolutely adore Beautyholics Anonymous!
