Product Breakdown:
I have to tell you, although I had heard great things about the Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Lipsticks, I was skeptical. Lipstick is lipstick, right?
Wrong. This particular lipstick is possibly the best thing I have ever had on my lips.
Pigmentation:
Holy hell, is this lipstick pigmented! The deep red swatch above is a single swipe of the Make Up For Ever Moulin Rouge Rouge Artist Lipstick (what a mouthful!).
The lipstick does change it’s appearance depending on the lighting, appearing as anything from a true bright red, to a deeper blood red colour.
Ease of application:
Smooth and creamy, I found this lipstick to glide onto my lips like a dream. It applies beautifully, however with time, I found it to feather quite dramatically.
This didn’t improve when I lay a base of lipliner. It was fixed by “reverse liplining” – lining just outside my natural lipline with a flesh coloured pencil, creating a physical barrier to the bleeding and feathering.
Longevity:
I found this lipstick wore comfortably for around 4 hours, before I felt the need to touch it up – not bad for such a dramatic red!
