You may remember a few months ago, I shared the latest MAC Trend Reports with you, and promised to deliver my own interpretation of these trends. Well it turns out that having a baby totally messes with your schedule, and I’m only now getting around to creating these looks.
Today’s look is based on the Light FX Trend from the MAC SS14 Trend Predictions. This trend focuses on sculpting the face using highlighting techniques to draw light, rather than more traditional contouring. There is also a focus on using white shades to create an ethereal luminescence, as oposed to the more obvious choice of champagnes and golds.
I tried to capture the essence of the trend in a casual, unstructured and wearable way.
This look is very much about glowing, healthy looking skin, so I began by prepping my skin with a layer of Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre to hydrate and act as a primer. I dotted MAC Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 Foundation in NC15* on my face, and buffed it in with a dense synthetic brush. I still had some prominent redness around my nostrils, some heavy darkness under my eyes, and a big honking zit on my lipline so I patted some MAC Prep+Prime Beauty Balm Compact in Extra Light* over these areas in lieu of concealer. I used some MAC Prep+Prime Highlighter* in Radiant Rose under my eyes, and mixed some with Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl for my cheekbones, temples, the bridge of my nose and my cupids bow. I very lightly contoured the backs of my cheekbones with MAC Sculpting Cream in Pure Sculpture*.
I set these cream and liquid products with the lightest dusting of MAC Mineralise Skinfinish in Light. I emphasised the highlighting I had already done with NARS Highlighting Powder in Albatross.
I primed my eyes from lashline to browbone with Becca Eye Perfecting Primer*, and I combed my brows up with Billion Dollar Brows A Hint of Tint in Blonde. Using my MAC Cool Neutral Palette, I applied Blackberry using a very sparse, fluffy brush in an ultra-sheer wash across my entire mobile lid, and topped it with a light dusting of NARS Albatross, which I intensified in my inner corners. I left the skin bare in my crease, and used Silver Fog from the Cool Neutral Palette across my browbone, including my brows. I finished the eyes with Lancome Hypnose Drama mascara, applied using a metal lash comb.
I left my lips until last, and mixed a sheer tint using MAC Peachstock* lipstick and MAC Lip Conditioner, which I applied using a lip brush.
What do you think of this trend inspired look?
