L’Oreal Paris Infallible Eyeshadows are an unusual beast. I think the best way to describe them is to imagine a loose pigment has been blended with a very small amount of a binding agent that does not dry down. The end result is an eyeshadow product that is not quite a loose pigment, not quite a cream eyeshadow and not quite a pressed eyeshadow.
Today I’ll be looking at 12 shades of L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow. Unfortunately it looks like a few of them were limited edition. If you’re unable to find them in stores, you can try looking on eBay or Amazon.
Over many years experience I have come to expect poor pigmentation from pharmacy / drugstore branded eyeshadows, to the point that I pretty much refuse to buy them at all. These eyeshadows are the exception to that rule.
HOOLEY DOOLEY THEY ARE PIGMENTED. All the swatches below are using the product dry over bare skin, with no primer or sticky base.
004 Forever Pink
005 Purple Obsession
006 All Night Blue
013 Burning Black
021 Sahara Treasure
026 Golden Mahogany
031 Innocent Turquoise
032 Sassy Marshmallow
034 Pepsy Coral
037 Metallic Lilac
039 Magnetic Coral
Ease of application:
These eyeshadows are incredibly easy to apply. Stick your finger in the pot and swipe it over your eye, and you’re pretty much done. They blend out beautifully with a brush, but seriously, a finger does the trick.
The finish of these is complex enough that you don’t need to layer your shadows, a single shadow is enough. If you choose to layer or blend a few colours, they do blend out beautifully.
In all honesty, I haven’t tested the 24 hour wear claims, and I don’t plan to. Having said that, I apply these over a base of Urban Decay Primer Potion, and have not experienced any creasing, ever, at all.
L’Oreal Color Infallible Eyeshadows are packaged in individual pots, with each pot containing 3.5 grams of product.
As far as pharmacy / drugstore makeup goes, I think that packaging of these eyeshadows looks quite classy. I wish the packaging felt a little more “solid”, because it is quite light.
When you screw open the lid, you see that the product contains a little plug to keep the product pressed down within the pot.
I wouldn’t describe the packaging as particularly on-the-go friendly, because it is a little bit of a fiddle to get the lid out, find somewhere to put the plug, and then apply the shadow. Having said that, the packaging is quite secure, so it could be described as travel friendly.
What they say:
Make a lasting impression without batting an eye.
Infallible Eyeshadows contain ultra concentrated colour pigments, for an intense colour finish and up to 24 hour long-lasting hold.
Immense, endless, breathtaking blue with a myriad of starry glimmers for eyes of exalted strength.
L’Oreal PR says:
L’Oreal Paris Infallible Eyeshadow includes ColorReveal technology that contains an increased proportion of binders four times that of a classic powder eyeshadow, combining the comfort of a cream with the easy application of a powder. High levels of colour pigments create a magnifying glass effect that enhances and heightens colour. Due to the diffraction effect, pigments and pearlescents are revealed at their full intensity. Adhesive polymers in the formula adhere to the eyelid, as durably and comfortably as second skin, the formula is also waterproof and resistant.
