Lancome Rouge in Love 163M – Review, Photos, Swatches
Rouge In Love is the new ultra-lightweight, highly pigmented lipstick from Lancome. The key concept behind this collection is having a lipstick hat is suitable for every time of the day and night, which is why there are three “mini-collections” within this range.
The first range is Jolis Matins, a selection of fresh shades of daytime wear, signified by the letter M in the shade number. The second is Boudoir Time, a selection of pop shades for cocktail hour, signified by the letter B in the shade number. Last but most definitely not least is Tonight is my Night, a range of intense shades for magical nights, identified by the letter N in the shade number.
Today I’m reviewing one of the Jolis Matins shades, #163M
Ease of application:
Like all highly pigmented lipsticks, these provide a much cleaner, crisper finish when applied with a lip brush. Having said that, I have been particularly enjoying wearing no makeup whatsoever, with a simple swipe of #163M applied straight from the tube.
The texture of this lipstick is very emollient, and if it were just a little bit drier it would be easier to get a clean application. It simply glides onto your lips like a balm, and although Lancome markets this lipstick as non-bleeding, I did experience a small amount of bleeding into my lip-lines when I tried to build up the coverage.
The Lancome Rouge In Love lipsticks are marketed as having 6 hour wear, and I would agree with this. It is my firm belief that if you choose to wear a bright or dark lipstick, you need to be prepared to touch up during the day, and this is no exception.
When first applied, this lipstick has a glossy sheen. Within 15-20 minutes it dries down to more of a satin finish, and within around 3 hours it becomes more of a highly pigmented stain. I experienced no real fading of colour on my lips until I sat down to a meal.
Lancome Rouge In Love Lipsticks are packaged in a sleek, elegant tube of brushed metal. Such a small detail, but it helps prevent horrible fingerprint marks all over the casing.
The polished silver window on the front of the tube represents a love note, and the beautiful seam down the back of the tube is reminiscent of the seamed stockings I love so much.
The top of the tube bears the imprint of the iconic Lancome rose, and the base of the tube is embossed with the word Lancome, leaving no doubt as to the brand of this beautifully packaged product.
Anything else worth mentioning?:
Lancome Rouge In Love lipsticks are quite unique in being highly pigmented, while offering genuine hydration to my lips. I own a number of lipsticks that claim to be hydrating but aren’t. They simply do not leave my lips in worse condition than when I applied lipstick.
When I wear my Rouge In Love, my lips actually feel more nourished, soft and plump than they were prior to applying lipstick.
What they say:
High-intensity colour, a featherlight feel. Rouge In Love achieves the perfect balance: radiant shades in a surprisingly light texture. It’s secret? The exclusive “colour-catching” polymer texture melts on application, leaving an essential concentrate of colour. Lips feel smooth and soft thanks to the nourishing and repairing oils that provide hydration for up to 6 hours with striking shine. As comforting as a balm, as colourful as a lipstick, as radiant as a mirror…
An ultra-light texture for endless tailor-made looks that take you from day to night. Rouge In Love is like a second skin that satisfies your every desire. In short: love at first sight.
