Ilamasqua describes “Stance” as a Fuchsia-Violet shade, and I would agree that the description is accurate. It sits nicely on-trend as an almost-neon, while maintaining a classic appeal.
Based on the website description of this polish, combined with my previous experiences with Illamasqua Nail Varnish, I was initially a little underwhelmed by the pigmentation of Stance. The first coat applied with a somewhat patchy finish, and the second coat was still a little bald in places.
My feelings about the pigmentation resolved themselves when I applied the third coat. All of a sudden I had full coverage, with no visible nail line and a lovely squishy finish.
I would describe the formula and pigmentation level of Illamasqua “Stance” as sitting somewhere between a creme and a jelly.
Ease of application:
Although I needed three coats to achieve a lovely finish, this was very easy to apply. In my experience, Illamasqua polishes are always fairly easy to work with.
I applied Stance with no base coat and no top coat, and it lasted 5 days on me with only some tip wear, no chipping to speak of.
Like all Illamasqua Nail Varnishes, I appreciate the square, easy to stack and store bottles. I store my nail polishes in a Helmer, and I prefer square bottles that stand in place like little soldiers without rolling around. I wish there was some indication of colour on the top of the lid – a problem that is easily solved by storing my bottles upside-down.
