An Homage to Human Fundamentalism

Human Fundamentalism 1

I have been feeling so incredibly inspired by the upcoming “Human Fundamentalism” collection from Illamasqua in the last week, and I fell in love with this image. In fact I loved it so much that I completely changed the challenge I had planned for this fortnight to accommodate my attempt to recreate the feel of this look.

I actually encountered a few problems when creating this look – namely that I was using some products either for the first time, or in new ways, and they didn’t react or perform in the way I was expecting them to.

I used some Sugarpill Chromalust loose pigments with Ben Nye LiquiSet mixing medium, and they didn’t want to play together. I have used these pigments with water and experienced no problems, but with this particular mixing medium, when they dried, they seemed to crumble off my skin. Lesson learned – use Chromalusts with water in future.

The other problem I experienced was that the liquid eyeliner was far less pigmented than I was expecting, and when layered, it ended up pulling itself off my skin.
