A Makeover in Tribute to the Death of Rue – The Hunger Games Chronicles

This is the second Face of the Day for the current Makeup Utopia Challenge – the theme this time around is the Hunger Games.

This Face of the Day is inspired by the death of Katniss’ ally in the 74th Hunger Games, Rue. I didn’t really have a solid plan for this look, I just picked up my brushes and “winged-it”. It didn’t turn out exactly as I had hoped it would, however I like to share the good, the bad and the ugly.

Products Used:

Neutrogena Healthy Mix
Neutrogena Healthy Skin in 20 Natural Ivory. This is a touch too dark for me, and I figured after being in the arena, Rue wouldn’t be super pale.

Tom Ford Cheek Colour in Savage
Tom Ford Cheek Colour in Savage. I used this to simulate a bronzed / sunburned / exposed effect by dusting it across my cheekbones and nose.

Urban Decay Pressed Eyeshadow in Secret Service
Urban Decay Pressed Eyeshadow in Secret Service. I used this to create a full brow, and to shade my eyes. I kept the middle 1/3 of my eyelid free of this shade.

Mirenesse Eyeshadow Trio in Keshi Pearls
Mirenesse Eyeshadow Trio in Keshi Pearls. I used the lightest shade from this trio to highlight the centre of my eyelid.

Australis Lash Length Extensions Mascara
Australis Lash Length Extensions Mascara. I used this because it was the closest black mascara to hand, but after looking at the pictures above, I do think my lashes look rather thick and long – this is worth further investigation.

Gosh lipstick in Darling
Gosh Lipstick in Darling. I applied this as a stain, to drain some of the colour from my lips for more of a gentle death pallor.

Ben Nye Bruise Wheel
Ben Nye Bruise Wheel. I used this cream palette to create the basic shapes of the wildflowers across my face.

Sugarpill Eyeshadows in Poison Plum, Tako and Buttercupcake
Sugarpill pressed eyeshadows in Poison Plum, Tako and Buttercupcake. I used a selection of my sugarpill pressed shadows to add vibrancy and depth of colour to the wildflowers on my face.
