Rimmel London Wake Me Up Foundation

Pigmentation:

The pigmentation of this foundation is exactly what it says, offers a natural to medium finish, but could easily be built up should you need it.

I stupidly deleted my ‘before picture’ but I did take a half and half shot to show you the difference.

I think its pretty obvious, but if you can’t tell, the side with the foundation is on the left and the other side is foundationless.

Here’s the full face:

I’m most impressed with the coverage.

Ease of application:

This foundation is idiot proof, I’ve used lots of methods, buffing, paddle brush then buffing, my fingers, all of them work really well. I think that straight buffing gave the best finish, but of course finger application is the fastest.

Longevity:

I’ve worn this foundation both with and without a primer, it lasts better with my primer, but it lasts really well without.

Given this formula is designed to be used by sleepyheads (who would perhaps prefer to stay in bed for a minute or two longer, rather than prime their skin) it is amazingly long wearing without a primer.

Packaging:

The packaging for this foundation is a good sturdy glass bottle with a bright orange top, you won’t miss it in the makeup section.  It dispenses the liquid via a pump, which is great for less mess, less annoyance and less likelihood of contamination.

What they say:

Rimmel’s first liquid foundation that instantly reawakens skin with a healthy, radiant glow.

It’s time to wake up – the light, smooth texture glides on easily to give a 100% pore-less and flawless complexion. Spoil yourself with SPF 15 sun protection and illuminating radiance pearls for a natural glow. A peptide formulation helps increase your skin’s elasticity and a vitamin moisturizing complex also leaves you looking healthy and fresh. Your skin will bounce back to life – even if your body is thinking otherwise.

No longer do you have to face fatigue in the mirror.  Immediately eliminates visible signs of tiredness so skin looks rejuvenated. Also minimising signs of premature ageing.  Wake Me Up works just as hard as you – staying put for up to 10 hours and giving you a natural, medium to full coverage. So even if you’ve had a few hours sleep, you can look radiant and younger.

My verdict:

I am a loyal and loving follower of my HG foundation, but this foundation is half the price. On its own, this foundation does a fab job of hiding the tell tale signs of late nights, broken sleep and early starts. I also haven’t always been setting my foundation as I normally would, because I haven’t had time, and it is still there at the end of my work day. No primer, no concealer, no setting – still there 8 hrs later!

I have started using this as my work day foundation — it’s so easy and quick to apply and I really like the finish.
